Year 3 Blog 02.02.24

Date: 2nd Feb 2024 @ 2:16pm

This week in R.E. we have been thinking about forgiveness. What does it mean to forgive? Is it sometimes hard to forgive? Why is forgiveness important? Year 3 children created some wonderful acrostic poems with the word ‘forgive.’

Friday is our Dodgeball day. The high energy game has proved a hit with many of the children. It has been a delight watching the children’s competitive side come alight during these sessions! We just need to remember the correct technique when throwing and catching the ball.

In Art, our puppets are coming along nicely. On Thursday afternoon we had a busy time drawing our animals, before cutting them out and sticking them onto cardboard. We had to really concentrate on applying our skills of scale as our final design will be joined together with split pins and skewers.

During Music we have been using the pentatonic scale to create our own musical melodies on the xylophone. Our focus has been Chinese New Year and the children have put together some fantastic pieces.

Our narrative, ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy’ has come to an end. The children have created amazing stories of their own, based around this book. On completion of their writing, Year 3 children read their story to their class mates. Ask your child to retell their story to you at home. I am sure you will be very impressed with the content of their story. The children included the following in their writing: onomatopoeia, colons, alliteration, repetition past and present tense, adverbs of time, similes and metaphors.

We can’t believe that we are already rolling towards another half term. Year Three always seems to fly by

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
