Year 3 blog 05.05.2023

Date: 5th May 2023 @ 6:36pm

The children have already experienced so much living history in their young lives, and they are very excited as we approach the next big event – the Coronation of Charles III.  Did you know we’re now in the Carolean Era?  It just shows how Latin is intertwined into our language – it comes from Carolus, the Latin form of the name Charles.  The Roman legacy lives on!

We really enjoyed our picnic on the school field today, dressed in our red, white and blue finery - please have a look at the photos below to see us enjoying our lunch with friends.  We’ve talked a lot about what the Coronation means, the history behind it and how it links to our lives in modern Britain, so we were able to understand the relevance of this unique event.

We hope you enjoy your Coronation weekend together, and look forward to hearing all about your celebrations next week.  Enjoy the extra bank holiday!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
