“We’ve got a happy little Harvest song!”
Well, what a success our Harvest Festival services were. Despite some last-minute adjustments due to the dreaded sickness bug, Year Three pulled, not one, but two fabulous services out of the bag. We have been inundated with Golden Tickets from across school and a number of the congregation also commented on the children’s enthusiastic singing, outstandingly clear speaking voices and their beaming faces. Thank you so much to everyone who was able to get down to church on Tuesday to support us. The children literally shone with a full church to impress and have been excitedly chatting about it ever since.
Another huge thank you for all your generous Harvest donations. As Rev. Matt explained, they will be given to Southport Soup Kitchen to provide a warm meal and a friendly welcome for those who find themselves in a rather difficult position at the moment. We are constantly exploring our Christian value of ‘Thankfulness’ with the children and they are beginning to understand that if you have a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in the fridge and a family to love then you are richer than 75% of the world’s population.
Unfortunately, we were so engrossed in the church service that it totally skipped our mind to take and photographs.
Our gymnastics routines continue to evolve and we are nearing a finished compilation of transitions and balances. The children have really enjoyed these sessions and their array of inventive ideas has actualy blown us away. At last, the sun shone beautifully for our basketball lesson on perfecting our chest pass and bounce pass.
In ICT we have been investigating how packets of data move through the internet and how they can become corrupted or time out. Mind boggling stuff!
Pollination and seed dispersal have been the buzz words of the week in Science. We seem to have a few experts in our midst as it has proved to be a popular homework topic. Can your child explain to you the many different ways that a seed can travel to a new destination?
Next week, we will be asking the children to think of some seasonal vegetables and toppings that they would like to include in a baked tart as our focus on seasonality and harvesting continues to develop. We will also be making some Asian inspired fruit kebabs and a tasty autumnal crumble. We are asking all families for a £2 donation to go towards the ingredients and baking equipment we will need to purchase for the children to enjoy a rather delicious week.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support. Enjoy the weekend!
The Year Three Team.
