Year 3 Blog 10.11.23

Date: 8th Nov 2023 @ 1:56pm

This week we sat as a school to reflect and remember all those who have paid the ultimate price during periods of war and conflict.  If you have a chance to watch or attend a Remembrance service as a family on Sunday we would love to hear the children’s thoughts when we return to school next week.

In Topic this week, we have been further conducting researching, in mini groups, focusing on the 3 different areas of the Stone Age – Palaeolithic (old), Mesolithic (middle) and Neolithic (new). Our Y3 children enjoyed researching using books and chromebooks to record on A3 sugar paper. Then they presented their findings to the rest of the class. Please take a look at the photos!

This week also marks COP28. COP28 stands for the 28th Conference of the Parties. It is an important summit that has been attended by representatives of all the countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  As a school we have been thinking about the small changes we can all make to help reduce our environmental footprint. The children have all made a pledge to help control climate change. Even something as simple as “I pledge to turn the tap off whilst I’m brushing my teeth” or “I pledge to unplug all of my devices before I go to bed at night.” These can all have a positive impact on the world we all live in.

Year 3 also enjoyed their English Experience Day, in class, for our narrative story Stone Age Boy. Please take a look at the photos, the children loved the activities around the pretend fire and drawing cave paintings!

This coming Monday, 13th November, Y3 will have a special visitor from the Wildlife Trust, Kate Ellis. Y3 will be off timetable for the duration of the day as we will participate in activities relating to our current topic, Stone Age. We are all very much excited for this action packed, fun thrilled day! Pictures to follow soon…

Thank you for you continued support. Have a great weekend and see you all on Monday, ready for the new week.

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
