It's Friyay!

It was lovely to get back to a bit or normality with Parent’s Evening this week. As always, thank you for all your support and everything that you are doing at home to enhance the children’s experiences. The children's rock collections are growing and we’ve even had some prehistoric teeth, claws, crystals and a few gems stones adorning our shelves this week.

We have been really impressed with the children’s story telling skills this week. They have followed their V.I.P’s ( Visual Instructional Plans, a little like a storyboard) to structure 8 paragraphs to recount the story of Stone Age Boy. Ask your child if they can tell you the story in their own words. We bet it will be filled with lots of super adjectives, adverbs and colourful vocabulary. Rehearsing a story verbally really supports the children’s ability to recall the correct sequence and key events in a story. We are all authors!

As we continue to take a journey through The Stone Age we have focussed on chronological order, plotting today, our lifetime, the birth of Jesus, the start of written history and the terms BC and AD on a timeline. The children couldn’t believe that modern history is basically a click of the finger, a blink of an eye or clap of the hands and yet the Stone Age began over 3,000,000 million years ago. Mind boggling!

We are looking forward to another week of discovery.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
