Year 3 Blog - 11.11.22

11.11.22

Today we sat as a school to reflect and remember all those who have paid the ultimate price during periods of war and conflict.  If you have a chance to watch or attend a Remembrance service as a family on Sunday we would love to hear the children’s thoughts when we return to school next week.

Our ‘Dance around the World’ topic is proving to be a great hit. We are in the process of putting together a dance motif including some classic moves from Africa, India and the USA (street dance).  We have included some of the links we have been studying for inspiration in class. The children have been interpreting the different styles of dance in their own unique way.  Some children have even been practising their sequences during playtimes. Maybe they would like to perform their initial ideas to an audience at home? Our dance routines are set to the soundtrack  “Around the World” Radio Edit Daft Punk)     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARfJ55bUAw0

This week also marks COP27. COP27 stands for the 27th Conference of the Parties. It is an important summit that has been attended by representatives of all the countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  As a school we have been thinking about the small changes we can all make to help reduce our environmental footprint. The children have all made a pledge to help control climate change. Even something as simple as “I pledge to turn the tap off whilst I’m brushing my teeth” or “I pledge to unplug all of my devices before I go to bed at night.” These can all have a positive impact on the world we all live in. We watched and discussed the film in the following link and lots of the children asked if they could re-watch it! Here is the link if you want to watch together at home.

Talking of climate change, enjoy this unseasonably mild weather we are enjoying and we will see everyone bright and early on Monday morning.

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
