Our trip to the Roman Fort Project was a definite highlight to our week. Like true legionaries we braved the weather and the harsh conditions underfoot to follow the commands of the (rather fierce) guides.
After a brief prayer to the gods we set to, collecting water in animal skills and wood for the fire. We learned how to protect ourselves using the famous Roman Testudo (tortoise) formation and had great fun charging our teachers, as you can see in the video below!
The trip was a fantastic way to experience the reality of life as a Roman soldier in Britain, and we will use our learning to enhance the information leaflets we started in English this week.
In maths we’ve been learning about money, identifying coins and notes and using them to find different ways of making set amounts. How many ways can you think of making £2.75 with coins? We found 8 before we moved on to the next challenge. We’ll now be calculating totals and finding change so any shopping practise over the weekend would be really helpful.
Have a fantastic weekend,
The Year Three Team
