English Experience Day

Experience day 1 - Our Y3 children loved their English Experience Day this week. We walked to the gardens behind St Luke’s church to engage in forest school activities. The children loved tasting their s’mores and hot chocolate. The children closed their eyes to enjoy and smell the taste of Autumn. This experience day has inspired the children with their poems in English ‘Autumn Is Here.’ Y3 have begun to write their Autumn poems with the help of their experience day and paint swatches to extend their vocabulary. We are both so impressed with 3H and 3R for their fantastic start to their poems!

Experience day 2 – Our second day of experience activities was classroom based. The children were luckily enough to taste apple pies and toffee apples! They described the taste, smell and texture of the foods using Autumn vocabulary in preparation for their Autumn poems. The toffee apple was a preferred over the apple pie!

Please take the time to have a look at the photos from our experience day… the children absolutely loved it!

In maths this week we have been subtracting 3-digit numbers using a variety of methods including column subtraction, number line and partition method. As part of MNP (Maths – No Problem), the children have been using base 10 materials to help them understand the process of subtraction.

In Gymnastics this week we have continued our sequences of symmetrical and asymmetrical balances. Y3 have been building up to perform to their classmates using the apparatus. The children watching were acting as judges like on Strictly Come Dancing! The children gave their peers a mark out of 10, one thing they loved about their sequence and one improvement for next time. There are some amazing gymnastics in our year group…take a look at the photos!

We are all looking forward to our immersive DT week next week! Kebabs, crumbles and tasty tarts are all on the menu. If your child has any allergies, that aren’t already aware of, please speak to a member of staff ASAP. We are very much looking forward to our D.T. week… keep an eye out for photos!

Once again, thank you for your continued support at home, the home learning books are looking fantastic – it is really appreciated!

One more week to go then half term in upon us!

Wishing you all have a great weekend!

The Year Three Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
