Year 3 Blog 15.03.24

Date: 15th Mar 2024 @ 2:13pm

It’s been another exciting week in Year 3, especially with Red Nose Day today. We’re huge fans of comedy so to be able to support charities whilst having fun has made for a great day.

We are coming to the end of our learning on fractions. Please continue to encourage your children to explore fractions of quantities – we’re sure you’ll be impressed by what they know.

In Guided Reading this week, we have been learning about plastic pollution. The children have enjoyed reading the book, A Planet Full of Plastic. The children have discussed the importance of looking after our planet and what we can do to help look after the world we live in.

Homework – There are two pieces of maths homework set to complete on Doodle, based on fractions, as well as the home learning grid activities. Please can you remind your child to hand in their home learning book on a Wednesday morning.

Also, please encourage your child to access the times tables section on Doodle, or alternatively, TT Rockstars daily at home; it only needs to be for 10 minutes but it makes such an enormous difference. Choose the Jamming mode and select the times tables that your child is comfortable with to begin with then add in the 3, 4, 8 x tables.  These catchy songs will also help embed learning:

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
