Year 3 Blog - 16.9.22

Date: 16th Sep 2022 @ 3:50pm

16.09.22

Another week has whizzed by in Year Three. We have begun to focus on our much-anticipated Harvest Festival. Year Three lead this service in church and it is always a highlight of our year.  We would love any family members to join us on Tuesday 4th October 2022. 3IR will be leading the 9:45 service and 3WM will lead the 10:30 service. Over the next few weeks we will be learning all about the importance of the harvest and looking at how people celebrate this important time around the world.

Next week we will be introducing the children to the script and allocating some speaking parts. Some children will be bringing home a prayer, a poem or lines to learn. Please encourage your child to practise their part using a clear and strong voice.

On Thursday the whole school enjoyed our ‘Christian Values’ day. The sun shone and we all took part in a variety of activities that helped to focus the children’s minds on the importance of our school values. The ‘Big box activity’ was certainly a favourite with everyone. The children were provided with a number of cardboard boxes and blankets and had to think about how it must feel to be homeless and therefore how fortunate we are to have a roof over our heads, food in our fridges and a family to love.

Our ICT lessons this week have focussed on ‘What is a Network?’ Well this led to many different theories so we went for a device hunt around school. Have a look at our photos, we had a brilliant time. Poor Mrs Steiger in the office was overwhelmed with all the children’s questions. “What is this for?” “Where does this wire go?” “How do you speak to Mrs Cowey?”

We are looking forward to our ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening on Wednesday 21st September. Our meeting is 6.00pm. It should only last for around 20 minutes but we would love to see you all there.

Please remember that school is not open on Monday 19th September due to the Queen’s funeral. We look forward to seeing the children bright and early on Tuesday morning.

Have a wonderful weekend

The Year Three Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
