Year 3 Blog - 20.5.22

20.05.22

Another glorious week in Year 3.

The children are really enjoying the adventures of Joe, Beth and Franny as they discover more and more magical lands in Enid Blyton’s tale ‘The Enchanted Wood’. So much so that they have designed their very own mysterious land that the children find at the top of the tree. We have a Pokemon Land, an Ancient forgotten Island, a Mythical Cave, Candy Land, Marshmallow World, Magical Tropical Land, Crystal Parlour, Nature Land, Star to Rainbow World, YNWA Land …  the list goes on and on.

The children are beginning to become more independent in their English lessons and although we are still working on our key skills daily (using full stops, capital letters, other appropriate punctuation, relative letter size, using adjectives and similes) everyone is developing their own style, which is great!

In art this week we have begun our journey with clay. The children will be designing their own Roman tile and we are using our topic, ‘How Does Your Garden Grow’ to inspire our thinking. The children have been particularly fascinated with the cross sections of fruit and vegetables so this is the direction we have chosen. We have started by completing some intricate observational drawings then selecting our favourite section for our tile design using a simple viewfinder. Take a look at some of our photographs below. We are very excited about experimenting with clay next week to bring our creations to life.

One more week until half term. Blink and we will be heading towards the Summer holidays. What a wonderful year we have had so far. Many thanks, as always, for your continuing support at home.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Year Three Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
