Year 3 blog 21.04.2023

21.04.2023

It’s been a great start to our final full term in Year 3.  The children seem to have grown so much over the Easter break, both physically and emotionally.  It was lovely to hear about all the exciting things that happened over the holiday and see photos of adventures in the park, baking at home and even some travels further afield.

The children have shown real maturity when discussing the global issue of plastic waste ahead of Earth Day.  They understand the impact on both our environment and on land-based and marine wildlife, having looked into research on plastics in the food chain and the devastating impact plastic waste is having in areas such as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.  We have all made a commitment to recycle and tackle the social and environmental problem of litter: we know that if we each make a positive change we can make a real difference so we’ll be collecting crisp packets to be recycled rather than thrown away to go into landfill.

We’ve started our new topic and are looking forward to learning about how the Roman invasions changed Britain.  We’ve got our new topic displays up and the children are desperate to produce some great work to add to them: please have a look at our new Home Learning grid for activities to enjoy at home.

In PE we’ve started our Outdoor Athletics unit ahead of Sports Day.  We had our first go at the relay sprint – have a look at our blog photos to see how it went!

Have a great weekend everyone,

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
