Year 3 Blog 21.1.21

21.01.22

This week we have really taken on the mindset that we are all artists. Some of the children have taken some convincing but as the week has progressed the children have been asking to take their sketch books out onto the playground during their breaks. Initially we found drawing a realistic eye quite a challenge but with some gentle and constructive criticism plus a substantial amount of peer support we have all been on a fabulous journey and using pencils, charcoal and chalk have really begun to understand the importance of careful observation. Our sketch books reflect our personal interests and creative journey therefore the children are more than welcome to bring drawings, collages, photos, illustrations and additional sketches into school to be stuck in to their books.  However, we do stress that these books are very precious and not just for a quick scribble. They are to be treasured and proud of and we cannot wait to see how our sketching progresses throughout the year.

Science has seen us talking all about the major organs, bones and muscles within our bodies and just how amazing we are. We also enjoyed another wonderful yoga lesson, reinforcing that it is just as important to keep you mind as healthy as your body!

In ICT we have continued to think about how important it is to keep ourselves safe online. This week we have discussed how sometimes we can become upset by something we encounter on the internet.  Ask your child what steps they would take if someone or something upsets them whilst they are online gaming. What must they NOT do?

Have a great weekend!

The Year Three Team x

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
