Year 3 Blog 26.01.24

Date: 26th Jan 2024 @ 4:01pm

Well another wonderful week has whizzed by in Year 3. So many highlights to mention but we'll give it a go...

Maths – this week Y3 have completed another unit on measurement – mass. The children are aware that 1000g is equal to 1kg. We also read and measured different objects using weighing scales.

English – our amazing writing on our narrative story, The Incredible Book Eating Boy, is as it’s final stages. Next week, the children will be independently writing their own piece of writing relating to our story.

Art – this week, the children have designed a plan for their own puppets. Lauren Child, the artist whom we are studying, focuses on animation and ‘bringing pictures to life.’ The children will create their animal puppet using a card and BBQ skewers. If you have any BBQ skewers lying around at home from last summer, we would be really grateful if the children brought these into school to use for their Art projects.

ICT - we continue to look at how we can keep ourselves safe online. This week we have focussed on privacy policies and how our devices can share our personal information without us knowing

PSHE – we are continuing to look at keeping our bodies and minds healthy. The children can explain the five food groups and the importance of having a balanced diet. As part of this unit, we also looked at drugs, the children are aware that some drugs are very useful and some can be very dangerous.

PE – the children continue to love hockey and dodgeball! In hockey, Y3 have been building up to ‘push pass’ with the correct technique whilst moving around an area. Please take a look at the photos from our busy and productive week.

The evenings are slowly getting lighter, have a great weekend!

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
