Year 3 blog 28.04.2023

28.04.2023

This has been a week of adventures, with orienteering being a highlight.  We worked hard in our groups to follow the trails and were excited to succeed together - perseverance always pays off!  We enjoyed a play in the ROLA too, making the most of the spring weather.

We’ve started to look closely at life in Roman Britain; the children have completed some fantastic writing from their research and have enjoyed sharing facts and asking questions.  We’re thinking carefully about the grammar and punctuation skills we’ve learned so far in Year 3, constructing interesting and adventurous sentences to bring our writing to life.

In RE we’re exploring how religious and non-religious people celebrate festivals, from both religious education and sociological points of view.  It’s always interesting to compare and contrast viewpoints when thinking about the society we live in.

The build-up to Sports Day has continued with a focus on hurdles; it’s a tricky skill to master but we did a great job!  We’ve continued to practise our sprinting technique, too, challenging our personal best times on the running track.

We’re really getting the hang of fractions in maths, adding and subtracting to solve a range of problems. We had fun making up our own problems involving pizzas, chocolate, cakes and hungry mouths!  It really helps to put our learning into context.

Have a great weekend everyone,

The Year Three Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
