Well another wonderful week has whizzed by in Year Three. So many highlights to mention but we'll give it a go...
Art - our moving pictures topic culminated in an exceptional afternoon of observational genius. The children's animated faces as they enjoyed a walking gallery around the classroom dishing out some constructive feedback and plenty of giggling along the way was a real joy to observe. Take a look at some of our works of art below.
Science - there has been a lot of talk about 'poo' this week. Well you can imagine the scenes... The digestive system has thrown up lots of scientific words for the children to explore and use appropriately; oesophagus, windpipe, anus, faeces, intestines, stomach and acid to name but a few. We have also learnt all about our teeth, the different types and their function. On Friday we also enjoyed a visit from Mr Harrison who wowed us all with more information about our teeth and the importance of oral health and also brought us a gift of toothpaste and toothbrushes. Thank you for taking the time to enhance our Healthy Humans topic and for our wonderful gifts. The children and staff really appreciated it.
ICT - we continued to look at how we can keep ourselves safe online. This week we have focussed on privacy policies and how our devices can share our personal information without us knowing. In PHSE we have continued to talk about how to keep ourselves physically safe and the difference between good and bad touch.
Next week we will be starting our DT project that also links beautifully to our healthy lifestyle theme. We will be looking at what makes a healthy plate? How many food groups are there? And what fuel should we be filling our bodies with?
If you are passing Aldi or have any other supermarket magazines, flyers etc through the door or takeaway menus that contain any photographs of food we would love the children to bring them into school so that they can create a food group collage. We will also be tasting different types of bread before we design our own healthy sandwich. Look out for a shopping list coming home with the ingredients your child has chosen for their creation.
** Please inform your class teacher if you child has any allergies.**
Chess club (Monday and Tuesday lunchtime) is proving very successful in Year Three. We currently have 13 chess sets but many more children hoping to get a game or two in during their lunchtime break. If anyone has any old chess sets gathering dust in the back of a cupboard would you please consider donating them to school. They will be cherished and very loved.
Homework - This week there is additional Maths homework under the homelearning tab on the website for all year 3 children.
The evenings are slowly getting lighter, have a great weekend!
