Year 3 Blog - 30.9.22

Next Tuesday is the BIG one; our special moment in church, The Harvest Festival. We have been practising our lines and trying on our outfits, including a full body carrot costume! All children have brought their lines / prayers home with them to learn. Please continue to encourage your child to practise their part using a clear and strong voice. Some of the children are very proud that they have managed to memorise their lines already. We would love the children to be able to deliver their lines without a piece of paper but of course we all get a little nervous when the big moment arrives. Therefore, the comfort of double checking their lines is perfectly okay too. If you are able to, please join us in church to celebrate the children’s achievements.

On Monday and Tuesday this week, our mini triathlon went down a storm. The bikes were definitely everyone’s favourite and even though the wind howled and the rain poured we had a ball. Take a look at some of our photographs. The children and staff enjoyed a really thorough workout and returned to class windswept and rosy cheeked.

On Thursday the sun shone when we went to visit The Redgate Community Garden. This tied in perfectly with our focus on seasonality. We enjoyed a wonderful morning planting bulbs and looking at the seasonal fruit and vegetables that are growing locally. This was the perfect preparation for our upcoming Design and Technology / Food and Nutrition work. It was also a great opportunity to work with another local primary school and reinforce community ties. We were made to feel so welcome by all of the staff and children and thoroughly enjoyed our biscuit prepared specially by the cook. We were also given a rowan tree by the children who work in the Redgate garden and we are so looking forward to nurturing it and watching it grow over the coming years.  What seasonal produce do you enjoy as a family? Have you spotted anything growing on your Autumn walks? Look out for further information in next week’s blog as we are hoping to do some cooking this half term.

We are already looking forward to another exciting week in Year Three.

Have a wonderful weekend!

The Year Three Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
