Year 3 Weekly Blog 13.12.24
Date: 13th Dec 2024 @ 3:21pm
We’ve had another busy week in Year 3, filled with festive joy and lots of exciting learning.
On Monday, we were lucky enough to watch our very talented Year 2 friends in their Nativity performance, followed by our Santa Dash, which was so much fun! We even had a snowy finish, making it feel like we really were inside a winter wonderland!
In Maths this week, we’ve been learning how to write length in meters (m), centimeters (cm), and millimeters (mm). The children have practised measuring different objects, from tables to rubbers, using rulers and tape measures. Don't forget to encourage your child to log in to Doodle Maths at home, please, to access their weekly assignments. This really helps consolidate what is taught in class.
In Geography, we’ve been learning all about the Earth’s layers and tectonic plates. The children were fascinated to discover that the Earth’s crust is broken into pieces that move, shaping the mountains of our planet. To bring this to life, we took a trip down the junior corridor to explore the large world map on the wall, where we located famous mountain ranges and volcanoes.
In English, we’ve been busy using our super knowledge of The Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, to plan a fact-based report detailing changes to human life during prehistory. The children have worked so hard to uncover fascinating facts about prehistory this term, and we can’t wait to see how their reports turn out!
We all enjoyed our Christmas Dinner Day on Wednesday. It is such a joy for us to sit down and enjoy a festive lunch with the children. The food was delicious, and it was a lovely way to celebrate together before the end of term.
Finally, we’ve been busy creating a special surprise in Art that will be making its way home to you this week. You will love it when it arrives. 🎅
Next week
On Tuesday 17th December, we celebrate our Christmas Takeover Day. Children are to wear mufti (feel free to add festive flair!) and bring a packed ‘party’ lunch. We’re also looking forward to Wednesday morning when we will walk to Church for a very special Christmas Service led by Year 1. A reminder that our last day of term is Friday 20th December, where we will finish early at 2:00pm.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
