Year 3 Weekly Blog (2. 10. 2020)

Date: 1st Oct 2020 @ 12:49pm

2.10.20

Hello October! We have enjoyed a really lovely week in Year 3. As the days become shorter we have tied this in to our Science topic. The children have enjoyed learning all about how shadows are made and how, depending on the type of material blocking the light source, it changes the density of the shadow. Thank you so much to everyone who sent in a torch, it really enhanced your child’s experience!

We have noticed this week that many of the children have needed a reminder on how to use a ruler correctly to draw and measure lines. Therefore we have put a piece of homework on our home learning page this week to support this. This homework needs to be in by Tuesday 6th October.

Our Kandinsky Concentric Circles representations are coming along beautifully in Art. The children have now had the opportunity to use a range of pastels and watercolours and will soon decide on the shape they would like to use to create their final piece.

Within music we are still enjoying listening to ‘Peter and the Wolf’. The children have listened carefully and are able to identify the range of instruments used and discuss how they represent the various characters within the piece – Fantastic!

With regards to reading books we are currently having to quarantine each book that comes back into school for the recommended time and this is having a knock on effect as to how often we can change reading books. As of Monday we would like the children to bring in any books to be changed as this will ensure we have enough ‘clean’ books to change everyone’s reading book on a Wednesday. Also, if you are looking for any additional reading materials you are still able to access Oxford Owls as you did during lockdown.

Finally, a big well done to our Superstars, Harlow and Holly. Well done girls!

Enjoy your weekend and we’ll see you next week.

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
