Year 3 Weekly Blog (27. 11. 20)

Date: 26th Nov 2020 @ 12:37pm

27.11.20

We have had another fantastic week here in Year 3!

As part of our Rocks and Soils topic we have started to look at the origins of cave paintings, how they were created and why. During Art we have been able to explore this further, looking at various cave art and creating our own interpretations using pastels and charcoal. We were really proud of our creations. Take a look at the photographs.

Continuing with our topic we have been reading the story ‘Stone Age Boy’. Using this as a stimulus we have written some wonderfully descriptive paragraphs all about a cave. They were a joy to read and the children used some excellent adjectives to create atmosphere!

On Thursday we all took part in Advent Day. We had a fantastic time learning all about the real meaning of Christmas, why God chose the Shepherds as messengers and the significance of Christingle. We enjoyed getting crafty making our beautiful Christmas cards for you to enjoy at home over the festive period and all making our own individual Christingles. We ended the day with a visit from Matt, our new school Vicar, and the children loved telling him all that they had learnt. Amazing!

Can it really be December next week? Time flies when you’re having fun.

Have a great weekend,

The Year 3 Team

***Well done to our Superstars – Libby and Mollie***

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
