Year 3 Weekly Blog (28. 5. 21)

Date: 27th May 2021 @ 9:11am

28.5.21

We have had the most amazing week with our chicks. This week we were able to take them outside on the grass. It was an absolute joy to see them flapping their wings and running about pecking the grass. They also enjoyed eating the lettuce that we have grown from seed, tomatoes and toast! On Thursday we enjoyed an afternoon of outdoor learning. The children collected natural items to build nests, we sorted items into living, dead and never been alive categories, we tidied and watered the beds, replanted our tomatoes and wrote an A-Z of nature. We had a really great afternoon and the children enjoyed this experience so much, especially as the sun was shining.

Tonight the children have brought home one of their own sunflowers. They have taken so much pride in these flowers, from planting a seed to looking after the plants they have become. Can we also thank those of you who purchased an additional sunflower and/or tomato plant. Your donations will be used to buy more plants and items for our school garden which has provided so many opportunities for learning in year 3 this half term.

Our whole school Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament, organised by FOSLS, took place this week. It was a great success and a big congratulations to Olivia Kirk who was our year3/4 winner and also went on to win the entire tournament. Well done Olivia!

We hope you have a wonderful, well deservered half term. Stay safe and we'll see you on Wednesday 9th June.

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
