Year 3 Weekly Blog 4.4.25

Date: 4th Apr 2025 @ 4:25pm

What an amazing Spring Term we’ve had in Year 3! Our topic this term has been Fantastic Forces, and the children have absolutely loved exploring the wonderful world of science.

From building pneumatic toys to investigating why things fall to the ground, we’ve learned so much about how forces work. The children have become mini scientists – asking questions, testing ideas, and discovering how much push and pull powers our world.

We are looking forward to next term’s brand new topic: The Roman Empire! We can’t wait to travel back in time to explore Roman life, their amazing inventions, and what they did for us in Britain.

We also look forward to beginning to learn Latin and starting our swimming lessons (dates for swimming will be confirmed at the start of the Summer term).

Important note about Swimming: It is expected that all children are able to dress and undress themselves in and out of their swimming costume or trunks independently. Some practice runs over the half-term break are essential!

We will also be diving into money and time as our next maths focus. Hands-on experiences outside of school - such as reading clocks, using money in real-life, or helping with shopping - would be a brilliant way to get ahead and build confidence!

This week’s homework has been set on Doodle Maths. Please also encourage your child to practise on TT Rockstars. Continuing to build confidence with the 3, 4 and 8 times tables will really support their learning.

We hope everyone has a restful, fun-filled holiday. See you all when we return on Tuesday 22nd April.

Happy Easter from all of us in Year 3! 😊

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
