Year 3 Weekly Blog (6. 11. 20)

Date: 4th Nov 2020 @ 1:05pm

6.11.20

Welcome back to the second half of our Autumn term! We hope you all managed to enjoy the half term (and put your wellies to good use!)

This half term our topic is Rock and Roll. We will be learning all about various rocks, the layers of the Earth and looking at the Stone age to the Iron Age in History. We will also be looking at the origins of cave paintings in Art. All of this learning is reflected in our new home learning grid for this half term. This has been stuck into the home learning books that were in school and can also be found on our home learning page on the website.

This week we have had a wonderful time preparing and filming our Thankfulness service for you to watch next week. We have created pieces of Art, enjoyed learning our Thankfulness song and worked hard on our speaking and listening skills. We are looking forward to sharing it all with you at the end of next week.

Within maths we have begun to focus on times tables. By the end of Year 3 we would usually expect the children to know the 2,5,10,3,6,4 and 8 times tables. As multiplication underpins so many areas of the maths curriculum we always find those children that are confident with their tables tend to struggle less. In the front of your home learning books every child has a log in for TTRockstars. The children are familiar with this as we use it in school and this really helps to support the learning of the tables. Please access it at home as much as possible.

Next Thursday is our first parents’ meeting. We will send out a Zoom meeting and password nearer the date.

Have a great weekend!

The Year 3 Team

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
