Year 4 Blog 17.5.24

Date: 17th May 2024 @ 1:21pm

The sun has mainly been shining on us this week, and Year 4 have been ‘on fire’ with their learning!

In English, the children have been given the task to write a Diary Entry as Howard Carter, about the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. They have been busily planning their writing this week, and written up some super descriptive diary entries.

In Maths, the children have worked with converting units of mass and length. They have also compared and ordered measurements.

In PE, the children developed their high jump techniques. Taking account of which leg they use as their lead leg and improving their landing techniques. They have also been developing their Egyptian dances and fine tuning the different parts of their routines

As artists, the children were introduced to a large sculpture. They had to imagine themselves as being only 15cm tall and express how they would react to its enormous size. They were given some clay and asked to mould their clay into a figure, showing their reaction. The children produced some superb figures, showing a great variety of reactions.

Congratulations to this week's superstars: -

Many thanks again for supporting your child’s learning. The Year 4 Team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
