Year 4 Weekly Blog (25. 9. 20)
Date: 23rd Sep 2020 @ 3:43pm
So we are nearing the end of September and the rainy days are back with us. That doesn’t however mean that the rain is stopping play!
The children have been working really hard this week and yesterday (Thursday) demonstrated their wonderful listening skills during a Zoom visit from the author Eve Ainsworth who has recently released her latest book : Kicking off. The children across Y4-6 enjoyed the virtual visit and asked some really thoughtful questions throughout the session; they should feel very proud of themselves. If you would like to order a copy with a personalised bookplate, then send £6 into school.
4W have now had 3 swimming sessions and are all making super progress, and 4C have been perfecting their long jump and triple jump techniques.
In maths, we have been working hard on rounding numbers to the nearest 10,100,1000 and home learning for this week is based on this.
In science, we have looked at the processes of evaporation and condensation in readiness for ‘Water Cycle Week’. There’s plenty of water around at the moment!
In Geography, we have begun looking at rivers around the UK and in particular the River Mersey.
In RE we have been studying the book of Samuel and this week we looked at the friendship between Jonathan and Samuel and created our own job descriptions for a good friend.
The children are enjoying their 5-minute brain break 5-a-day dance move videos to refocus their minds between longer sessions; we have a bunch of talented movers in Y4!
We began TT Rock stars this week and the new music tracks are now less 80’s and more now! Keep working hard with these at home too.
Mrs Cowey is enjoying teaching the children Latin on a Tuesday and the children are happily engaging during these sessions.
Mr Bowen is teaching African drumming to 4C this half term and will swop to 4W next half term.
Have a save and enjoyable weekend and we look forward to the start of week 5 next week.
Many thanks,
The Year 4 team.
