WOW! WOW! WOW!

What a truly amazing group of children we have in Year 5!

This week was our ‘Performance Week’ of the Pirates of the Curry Bean, and what a host of shows they were.

On Monday, we had our dress rehearsal, followed on Tuesday with the first performance to an audience – The whole school!  “The best show ever,” was mentioned by many members of staff, which was lovely to hear and reward for all the hard work that the children have put in. On Wednesday morning, we performed songs from the play to our Roots and Shoots preschool children. Later the same day, the children dressed back into costume for the first show to parents and loved ones, which was well received and got lots of giggles. The show just got better and better as the week progressed and the finale on Thursday evening didn’t disappoint. The children were absolutely amazing and performed their hearts out to a packed-out hall of eager family members. It was such a lovely moment watching on as proud parents and family members watched on with beaming smiles. This is always a highlight of these performances.

The children have demonstrated super resilience during this hectic penultimate week of the Spring Term. As well as the show, learning didn’t stop.

They have also completed end of term maths and reading quizzes, as well planning, writing and editing their own version of the book – Gorilla by Anthony Browne.

They extended their story where their chosen animal took the main character on an amazing journey of their choice. As teachers, we always look forward to reading your children’s imaginative and creative pieces of writing.

As well as all this, the children have been learnt about healthy eating in PSHE, enhanced their handball and teamwork skills during PE and begun their set design as part of our Art topic. Next week will be a fun week of Art, and Design Technology!

Please enjoy the performance photos and we wish you an enjoyable and safe weekend.

The Year 5 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
