Year 5 Weekly Blog (18. 6. 21)

Date: 17th Jun 2021 @ 10:02am

Year 5 have had an action packed return to school. It started last Friday, when we visited the squirrel reserve at Freshfield to learn first hand how squirrels build dreys, cache food and survive in the coniferous habitat. We then used this knowledge to write detailed non chronological reports full of technical vocabulary. Then on Monday, as our residential to York had to be cancelled, we had a fantastic time instead at Go Outside, where we participated in team building activities and assault courses. Finally on Tuesday we went to St. Luke's Church and met Rev. Matt in person for the first time. He helped us learn all about the history of Formby by looking for clues in the church and the graveyard. We also completed some fantastic watercolours in the church grounds. There are lots of photographs of these 3 trips on the website.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
