Year 5 Weekly Blog (25. 9. 20)

Date: 23rd Sep 2020 @ 3:42pm

Reminder regarding Cauliflower Christmas cards organised by PTA: your child should have brought home with them this week a form for them to create a Christmas card.  This needs to be completed and returned to school by Wednesday 30th September.

What a great week we have had in Year 5. Our Fair Trade learning culminated in the most amazing non chronological leaflets that were so fantastic, they could be mistaken for real leaflets. We are so proud of the children's writing. It shows just how hard they worked when home learning as the writing standard was fabulous with glimmers of Year 5 elements already.

In maths, we have finished our unit on "Reading, Writing, ordering and Rounding" and have moved onto addition and subtraction within 1,000,000. This week we have been adding and subtracting large numbers mentally (see homework) leading next week to the formal method. Again all children have shown how hard they worked on maths during home learning as they have all been GREEN at the end of each session. ðŸ˜€

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
