Year 5 Weekly Blog 25.2.22

Date: 25th Feb 2022 @ 3:08pm

In P.E, we have started practising our hockey skills and our main focus was dribbling the ball around the playground in a number of ways.

We started to look at decimals in maths, comparing the decimals to each other to find the greater or lesser one.

In science, we have been looking at dissolving solids and whether they are a soluble, insoluble or a suspension. We had fun carrying out the experiment.

We’ve been looking at the poem ‘The Listeners’ by Walter De La Mare and discussing the meanings of some of the more complicated words.

From 9:00 to 10:30 each morning, some of our classmates have been rehearsing Scenes 1&2 for our Y5 performance, Rock Bottom. We also prepared some props using modroc and our skills we learned in October.

5J had their golden ticket reward on Wednesday afternoon where we got to wear our own clothes and watch the movie Journey 2: Mysterious Island.

This week's Blog has been written by Alastair and Sian of 5J

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
