Year 6 Blog 10.1.25

Date: 10th Jan 2025 @ 2:58pm

Firstly, as a staff, we’d like to thank all of the families and carers for their very kind Christmas gifts and cards’ it is very much appreciated by us and we are very grateful. We have enjoyed welcoming the children back on a chilly but very productive week. We have started our new topic of evolution and Darwin’s theory of natural selection.

In maths, we are already knitting our prior learning about fractions and decimals into our new percentage topic. The children have been enthused and energised which is helping them in their understanding. We will be enjoying dodgeball during indoor PE and have started an array of other learning in new modules in Latin, PSHE and science. All Year 6 staff wish you a restful weekend, ready for our first full week back in school of 2025.

The Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
