Year 6 Blog 13.12.24

Date: 13th Dec 2024 @ 2:26pm

Another fantastic week in Year 6 has come to an end. The children have been really excited about composing a Newspaper based around their Greek myth, which we will edit and publish next week; there really are some budding reporters in the Year Group! In maths, we have spent the week revising knowledge on how to convert between different units of length, mass and volume, revising our strategies on multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 in the process.

We have finalised our learning for the Half-term in Science, RE and History. The children have been busy planning and carrying out experiments on different circuits, thinking about Mary, Joseph and Jesus as refugees and how they would have felt on the flight to Egypt, and researched the lasting legacies of the Anicent Greeks.

The highlight of the week has been the creation of the children's Steady Hand Games (See some pictures below). The children have designed and constructed boxes and circuits for their games before compiling them together into one product, which they have now evaluated and willbe taking home in the near future. (Please remember to pay the deposit on school spider so that your child can take it home!)

As there are many fun and Christmas-themed events next week, a reminder that Tuesday is Christmas Takeover day, where the children will require a packed lunch and Christmas Mufti. We will also be going to church on Wednesday to celebrate Christmas, with Year 1 leading the service.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
