Year 6 Blog 15.11.24

Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 2:05pm

This week, the children have been working very hard and have been showing how they are maturing into Year 6. Encapsulating our year group value of 'respect,' the whole of Year 6 did not only the staff and parents proud, but the fallen soldiers they were honouring on Monday, during our Remembrance services. The children performed this to families at 9:00 on Monday and then timed their second service perfectly in line with the silence of remembrance at 11:00.

We have tackled many aspects of the curriculum this week. The children have further explored our topic on the Ancient Greeks, learning about the geography of Greece and how this benefitted the development of a great empire. They have also looked at the legacy of Ancient Greece and the Olympics in our PE dance lessons.

We have developed our sketching and shading techniques in art and the children have contributed to some wonderful writing ideas in our build up tothem composing their own Ancient Greek myths, including their own heroes/heroines and monsters.

We have continued to look at fractions in maths and our review on Friday has been a great opportunity to celebrate successes and identify where further over-learning is required.

Have a great weekend and rest up.

The Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
