Year 6 Blog 19.10.23

Date: 20th Oct 2023 @ 2:07pm

What an exciting last week to the half-term we have had in Year 6. We have finalised our poetry based on the hope-o-potamus, writing them up neat for display. In maths, we have looked at comparing and ordering fractions, including proper and improper fractions and mixed numbers. In P.E. we have finalised our performances including counter-balance and counter-tension, performing these routines to the rest of the class.

Reverend Matt came in on Monday to speak to the Year group about the Christian beliefs of the afterlife. The children were fascinated and asked a  lot of quality questions to him. We also took a trip to the Professional Development Centre to learn more about the Jewish faith. Members of the Jewish community took us through their beliefs, celebrations and life-styles and the children enjoyed getting involved in the activities.

We hope all the children have a restful and exciting half-term.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
