Year 6 Blog 22.11.24

Date: 22nd Nov 2024 @ 1:19pm

The children in Year 6 have spent this week reviewing their knowledge of topics learned in maths, grammar and reading. They have worked hard during this time and credit must go to the resilience they have shows over the past few days.

In maths we have started our learning of decimals, relating them to fractions and looking at how we can read and write them successfully. In English, the children have started to compose and edit a Greek-inspired Myth, where they have created their own monster and heroes and are writing about the epic battle they will have; you won;t want to miss reading it!

In RE we have began our learning around the period of advent, focussing in on the recounts of the nativity found in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, with the children identifying the omissions and differences between the two passages.

In science, the children have continued to experiment with circuits, looking at how to create and change circuits, drawing them using correct circuit symbols.

A big well done to some of the boys from our football team who finished third in a local Futsal Tournemant at Formby High School. The team had 2 good wins and a draw against some tough opposition to take home the Bronze medal. Well done!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
