Year 6 Blog 29.11.24

Date: 29th Nov 2024 @ 1:35pm

This week, Year 6 have tackled many areas of the curriculum with gusto and enthusiasm. In English, the children have been editing their myths from last week and working collaboratively to improve these. They have also moved on to looking at features in news reports, both verbally and in writing, to support their newspapers next week.

In maths, we have moved onto the topic of decimals, looking specifically at how these are linked to their fractional equivalents. The children have made good progress here.

On Thursday, the children were able to build on their topic learning around Ancient Greece. We visited both the Walker Art Gallery and World Museum in Liverpool. The children were a credit to St. Luke’s in both buildings and during the travel time to and from Liverpool. All staff were proud of the children.

In PE, we have continued looking at tag-rugby and dance and the children have planned their own investigations into varying components in an electrical circuit. Have a restful weekend and we will go again on Monday.

The Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
