Year 6 Blog 6.10.23

Date: 6th Oct 2023 @ 8:32pm

In maths, we have been finding common multiples and finding common factors, as well as composite numbers during an investigation. We found it tricky at first but then we started to improve finding our methods that suits us. In English we have been writing sentences based on the hop-o-potamus but instead of a hippopotamus it's a diplodocus which is called the hope-low-docus. These sentences are building up to become our one only poem as well as  practising our write about it. We have been learning about 6 ways that exercise benefits your mental health. We have been doing evaluation and different questions. In PE we have been doing gymnastics and counter balances. We have been doing it in groups of 3, 4 and 5 and doing routines and then showing them to the other groups. In basketball we have been doing skills such as shooting and passing. See some pictures of this below.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
