Year 6 Blog 6.9.24

Date: 6th Sep 2024 @ 1:22pm

Welcome to the first Year 6 blog of the year. All of the staff in our year group have had a wonderful time getting to know all of the new names and faces in Year 6. We are grateful to the parents and carers who have supported us in helping the children settle into the year group.

We have been busy since Tuesday getting to know your children a little better, introducing them to some of the routines and expectations in Year 6, and giving them a bit of a challenge.

We have examined some poetry and the children have already reflected on this and its theme of ‘hope’ with great maturity and interest. We have started our usual maths lessons already and the children have risen to the challenge well. We have also started thinking about our Autumn 1 topic – Fit for Life – and this is linked to our PE and science.

We hope the children have a restful weekend ahead of their first full week as Year 6 pupils – how time flies!

Best wishes from the entire Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
