Year 6 blog for week ending 14.03.25

Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 1:50pm

This week, the children have been working hard towards the halfway point of this half-term. We have completed our focus on position and movement in maths, meaning that we have re-covered co-ordinates and reflection, and have taught the children about translation on a grid with four quadrants.

In English, we have planned our independent writing about an enslaved person, living on a plantation which is in the modern United States. The children have developed their skills in yoga, making progress with their balance and control, as well as their control over their breathing.

In music, they have continued their focus on film scores with Mr Smith, and with Miss Bartlett, they have delved deeper into how different religions can combat racism and discrimination.

With only three weeks to go until Easter, we continue to thank you for your support in your child’s learning at home. We only have six school weeks left until the Key Stage 2 assessments, so anything that you can do at home is appreciated. Don’t forget that Doodle can support with elements of English and maths, learning the children’s needs and providing tuition and assessment based on their gaps in learning.

Have a great weekend.

The Year 6 team.

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
