Year 6 Weekly Blog 13.9.24

Date: 13th Sep 2024 @ 3:54pm

Another fantastic week in Year 6 has come to an end. The children have continued to apply themselves greatly in all the lessons they have completed, with great enthusiasm and smiles on their faces.

We have concluded our maths learning on place value with some tricky rounding lessons and have started to learn about the importance of the order of operations (as well as how acronyms are not always the most helpful).

We have worked together as a year group to compose a small bit of poetry based on the poem "The Hope-O-Potomus", with the children coming up with excellent adverbials, very-good verbs and really-great rhymes to keep the writing flowing (We should have let them come up with better synoyms for the adjectives in that sentence too!).

Our Topic of Fit For Life has continued this week, with the children working on their core strength in PE, as well as working on their basketball skills in Games.

Children have come home this week with a plastic wallet where all of their Home Learning should be kept for transportation purposes. There is also a Planner in there where the children may write down important information or events (Such as the need for a cereal box to be brought in as part of our art studies).

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to another great week ahead!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
