Year 6 Weekly Blog 7.6.24

Date: 7th Jun 2024 @ 2:22pm

In writing, have been doing work on a book called Thornhill: a HORROR STORY!!! Our writing has been about an abandoned house. We went on a walk to the graveyard to come up with describing words for our story so it can be the best that it can be. In maths this week, we have been doing different word problems to change the way we think about maths. The word problems have been a challenge but it helped us learn more. In science, we have been learning about shadows. We brought in touches and finding objects to see if they have a shadow.W e also found out if it is transparent, translucent or opaque and recoding them in our books. We have been doing a lot of independent reading (or reading for pleasure) in order expand ourvocabulary by reading more challenging books and we are reading a variety of texts.

This week's blog has been written by Mia and Eliza in 6H

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
