Year6 Blog 24.11.23

Date: 24th Nov 2023 @ 1:49pm

Another fun-filled week in Year 6 has come to an end. We have started to look at the Ancient Olympic games and their impact on the Greeks, comparing and contrasting them with the more modern events which happen today. We also looked at Ancient Greek artifacts to see if we could determine what they were.

In maths, we have started to look at decimals, starting by reading and writing them before trying to turn fractions into decimals.

We have continued to develop of passing skills in rugby, focussing on passing backwards rather than to the side, and worked on how we can created chariots in our Ancient Greek Dance sessions.

A sad piece of news is that Miss Winder will be leaving the Year Group to persue a new role in the NHS. We wish her all the best for the future and will miss her helpfulness and smiley face. Thank you for everything Miss Winder!

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
