PSHE at St. Luke's Primary School

PSHE teaching at St. Luke’s has a wide application to everyday life, teaching the children to enjoy learning about the world and to have a better understanding of how to manage themselves and their interactions with other. Our teachers are knowledgeable and well supported by an experienced and passionate Subject Lead. We believe that children should be inspired to make good choice in life and navigate through it safely, both online and in person, and with kindness to others and themselves. We want our children to be proud of themselves, while valuing those who are different from them. PSHE is integral to our whole-school ethos and underpins both the emphasis that we put on our LEARN philosophy, our Christian values and the 5 British Values comprising of Citizenship.

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”

to learn, to succeed, to value one another

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. A value is a belief or principle that guides our thinking and behaviour. Our values underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils to be happy and confident and to to take an active role in their community and the wider world.

Each year group has adopted one of our Christian values: Kindness, Forgiveness, Courage, Thankfulness, Hope, Faithfulness and Respect. Our over-arching Christian Value is Love. Throughout the year children are helped to explore, have opportunities to practise and then given time to reflect on what each of our Christian values means to them.
